The Rich Feast The Poor Fast
A Personal Journey of 40 Days & 40 Nights
Unlock the Secrets of Biblical Fasting: Strengthen Your Body, Soul, and Spirit in 40 Days
- Have you ever wondered why, despite your most fervent prayers, answers seem just out of reach?
- Why are breakthroughs so rare, despite the countless hours spent praying?
- Perhaps, like many Christians, you’ve asked yourself: Is there something more I’m missing?
“Thank You for Visiting! Our New Website is Almost Ready!”
Ask yourself: When was the last time you heard a sermon on fasting in western churches, or had a discussion about it in your church or among fellow believers?
For most, it’s likely been a long time—if ever. My personal experience? Since my earliest days in Sunday school in Singapore, I rarely, if ever, heard anyone discuss fasting with true depth. The conversation was absent, a spiritual tool left unexplored.
But Could This Be by Design of the FREE WILL?
Is it possible that our greatest adversary has clouded our minds and thoughts over decades, leading us away from one of the most powerful spiritual keys given to us by God?
Think about it: Fasting is a discipline only you can undertake. You can ask others to pray for you, to intercede on your behalf, and even to support you in your faith journey. But can you ask someone to fast for you? Can they eat for you? No, fasting is uniquely personal—a commitment only you can make to draw nearer to God. It’s the difference between sympathy and empathy. Sympathy can offer comfort from a distance, but empathy engages fully, even sacrificially. Fasting requires this level of engagement, where we not only care about others’ suffering but enter into it ourselves to seek a deeper connection with God.
In my book, The Rich Feast & The Poor Fast, I explore how fasting has the power to bring you closer to God, revealing a level of intimacy and understanding rarely reached through prayer alone. Together, we’ll delve into topics many Christians find puzzling or difficult to address:
Saint Basil the Great beautifully expressed the transformative power of fasting:
“Fasting gives birth to prophets and strengthens the might“

"I’ve done health fasts in the past and, while reading this first chapter, I found that much of the information brought back memories of what I’ve already known deep down—that fasting is one of the best ways to reset physically, mentally, and spiritually.
For years, I’ve instinctively turned to fasting when I was unwell, even when others didn’t understand why I wouldn’t just take a quick fix like a pill. Now, though, fasting feels more significant. This chapter helped me see how fasting can be about so much more than health—it can be a way to deepen my connection to Jesus and to seek how I can better serve Him.
What stood out most was the emphasis on fasting being an act of humility and surrender, not just something we do for ourselves. That reminder felt important to me as I think about how I can align my intentions with God’s will.
It has encouraged me to approach fasting not just as a practice for my own benefit but as a step toward understanding how I can be of assistance to Jesus in this world. I’m looking forward to continuing this journey and growing spiritually through fasting. Thank you for offering this guidance in such a clear and accessible way." 5 Star*

Thank you so much for sharing. I've gotten to the first few pages of chapter 1 and I can already tell it will be a very informative and insightful read. Thank you for compiling into your own words and experiencing the knowledge of fasting from a bíblical and scientific point of view. I'm looking forward to the rest of the reading.
That will be such a blessing! Thank you!
I believe the information found in your book could be what I've been looking for. To learn the concept of fasting and how to approach it the way the Lord designed it. Many like myself are intrigued by it for weightloss and health related issues, and while that is okay, there is a deeper purpose for it. Not just for the healing of ourselves but for the nations.
I love the point you brought out from the Bible that fasting and praying was necessary for the disciples and their unbelief, and without the practice of it, they were unable to do the work of healing effectively.
I know your desire and mission from the Lord is to provide a bíblical retreat in the UK and I must say the US needs it too. I pray for the manifestation of your vision in the lives of many who need it in Jesus name. I believe there's an urgency for God's people to pray and fast fervently in these times. We are in need of true transformation. 5 Star*

Anyway I can be of help in this new book, let me know—I am ready to work with you.
"Fast is for the poor and feasts for the rich."
This is very powerful writing. It has lots of impact; you just don’t know.
I am going to use it for my sermon this week.
Christopher, you are a true blessing to me. Thank you for making the disclaimer about Biblical fasting.
In Kenya, there is an ongoing case about a controversial preacher who imposed fasting on his followers. Over 500 people died from fasting last year (2023), and even now, people are still dying.
Love you, my brother.
God bless you.

The first chapter of The Rich Feast, The Poor Fast was an absolutely great read! It beautifully explores various forms of fasting, blending scientific and religious perspectives seamlessly. I found it fascinating to learn more about the physical and psychological benefits of fasting, but what truly stood out to me were the spiritual insights.
As a Muslim, I particularly appreciated learning about other forms of fasting. Some I was somewhat familiar with, but others were completely new to me, and it was eye-opening to see the similarities and differences across cultures and beliefs.
What I loved most was how the chapter emphasised the spiritual benefits of fasting. By voluntarily depriving ourselves of the simple pleasures of life, we naturally turn towards the sustenance of faith, finding a deeper connection to our purpose and Creator.
I’m excited to keep reading and discovering more. Highly recommend this book to anyone curious about fasting or seeking a profound perspective on an ancient practice!
